I purchased the HM126 with the 14hp upgrade. I assembled it by myself and it went very smooth. I have cut 5 oak trees and two cedar trees with no issue. I did call for a couple questions that I had and the technical person I talked to was very nice and knowledgeable. I realized after talking to him, I could have just referenced the manual for all my answers. I do wish that the upgraded engine came with the electric start. I was told that I couldn't get an upgrade kit to add the electric starter.Ken C

This mill is the best thing we've bought in many years. We are having a ball getting something besides ashes and firewood out of trees we've pushed down. We have lots of red cedar, cherry, poplar and oak that we will saw in the near future. This is a great mill, we haven't had any serious problems just a few "operator errors", we love the design, ease of assembly and simple operation. Sam and Donnie ReynoldsSam R

After purchasing our mill in mid summer of 2018 we couldn't be happier! We have already milled and stacked some lumber to erect a "Mill Shed" on the 20 x 10 poured pad the mill is sitting on. Setup was relatively easy and operation has been flawless. We are looking forward to getting back to milling once winter is over! Thank you Woodland Mills! We look forward to visiting again.Bryan W

Very pleased and happy with the mill. It is well built and Just a great sawmill for what i needed for my little operation. I re-saw mostly medium to the hardest tropical wood for my business. After minor trial and error, I've got it running smoothly. Getting the 10 blade package was well worth it as I found myself going through them quickly when sawing hardwood. I purchased the HM 126 Trekker. This saw is truly heavy duty. The build took me a couple of days, but, once everything was level, all the bolts fit perfectly. The saw is perfectly balanced on the trailer making it easy to move around by hand. Started right up and first cuts were right on. Thanks for a great product. Jeff A

I have not had a chance to use it much, so I can not comment on its performance. But was reasonably easy to assemble. It rolls smoothly on track and appears that it should work well, but until it I use it, this is only speculation. I had 1 Defect that I found and the Tech team resolved the problem in a timely manner. I hope to use it in the next few months then I plan to update comments at that time if it is possible.Douglas T

As you can see from my pictures I leave in the countriside and I'm surrended by my animals (dogs, deers, chickens) and when I'm using the machine they're not scared about the noise as it's pretty silence. I've had the HM126 for a couple months now. Honestly, I think it works great for the money. I've ruined one blade because the copper nozzle wasn't bent correctly and wasn't dripping the coolant onto the blade. The blade got hot, lost its tension and jumped off. The second blade I ruined because I reset the tension after about 20 minutes of milling....I don't suggest doing that. Set it once and forget it. I checked the tension and it was a little loose, after I reset it the blade promptly came flying off and shear a bunch of teeth. That was my fault. The Kohler 14hp engine is a beast, albeit a little cold natured and hard to start. But once its running, it does a fine job. Make sure you turn the air snorkel to the cold setting when its cold outside, that helps a lot. I got the cover too. The cover does the job, could be tailored a little better , as when it rains, water pools up on the top and it sits between the green control panel and the engine. If it was a little more form fitting, the water could run off without pooling. I've soaked my pants twice getting the water off the cover. The machine runs well, cuts well. I've done Cedar, Ash and Locust so far. Very happy with the result. I will be purchasing the track extension, and the trailer. I highly suggest anyone reading this review, to go ahead and get the track extension, cover, cant hook and pack of blades. The tip of the cant hook bent on me, but the rest of the hook is built well. I took the tip, bent it back and heat treated it. So far its been fine after that. Woodland mills might spend a minute thinking about the cant hook tip and try to reproduce the bending I got. Could just be a one off issue I had. I am a mechanical designer, and have designed Automation equipment for John Deere, Case, Volvo, CAT, and have designed Firearm parts for Remington Arms. I approve the HM126 whole heartedly, and I especially APPROVE Woodland Mills customer service. Top notch, bar none, Melissa is a sweetheart. Pay her more!!!Ray C

Woodland Mills, I am so happy with my 126. So far it has performed well. It starts easily at sub freezing tempuratures, and powers up nicely. I'm lagging on getting my shelter for it done, so I'm dealing with the elements, but that aside, I'm pleased with the quality of, and ease in assembly. I went in on it with 3 other folks, but so far, I'm the only user. Looking forward to stocking up on timber this winter (if the snow ever flys), and really putting the mill through the paces. This Woodland Mill is one the best investments I’ve ever made.I just finished a 12’ x 16’ shed which cost me just $400, mostly because of the metal roof and nails. I’ve priced them around the state for about $4,000 to $6000. The mill has already paid for itself. We still have 3 more sheds and a garage to do and that’s just for starters. One unexpected benefits is the fire wood it generates. Thank you, Alan B.Alan B

I am so pleased with my new mill. When it came in I couldn't wait to get it set up. Set up was pretty straight forward, and the instructions were easy to follow. I would have liked more info on what to use for footings or a base. I went with 2X6 pt a double rail, and double footings at each adjustable foot. Thought with all the rain we have had the place I set up in is now a bit muddy, leveling was easy too! I have cut 4 logs so far from 10" to about 22" x 12'. I and building a deck to pre load logs, and cut 6X6 pine for this. I plan to build a shed 12'X12" for it to store accessories, and keep the cutting head out of the rain and snow. The blade that comes with it is great too, it was a Lenox blade, and cut very smooth, clean and quick. I did have an issue in that, I accelerated while the blade was touching the log and threw the blade, cleaving off 4 teeth. I finished the log with that blade, and put a different blade on the next day. I will be buying the blades from Woodland as they were better, and cut smoother and faster. I would recommend getting the extra length of track right away, and if you have the budget, also the trailer. I will be getting a trailer, so I can go to the wood when needed, but I just like to be ready for anything. All in al I feel this was a good investment, well built, and easy to use. You should however consider all the things you may need to get and load logs on your mill, as well as where you can use it. This is a heavy piece of equipment and you will need to be resourceful to set it up! It is a great feeling to take logs that were going to become firewood, and turn them into hundreds of dollars worth of lumber. Dana S

Mill arrived a day sooner than expected, but trucker had alerted me ahead of time. Only problem was the delivery truck's lift gate wouldn't work at our site. Unloaded with forks on my front end loader and about maxed out the tractor since I ordered the track extensions, box of blades and a cant hook. Everything was in the 'box' and went together easily. I am impressed with the quality considering the purchase price. Had a little trouble fine tuning the blade tracking (very touchy), but cut enough lumber so far to side a tractor shed and part of my shop. Since I have 20 acres (8 ha.) of red pine plantation to thin, I will be cutting mostly pine for the next 8 to ten years. Already have a request to cut board and batten siding for a local sporting goods shop. Looking forward to many hours at the hm126. Thank you for producing such a great little mill.Richard S

I bought this mill because I've about 12 acres of wooded land that I can use to make boards for barn siding, fencing, etc. This mill is fantastic. The bandsaw wheels are a little temperamental when first getting it setup, and then it works like a champ. Their customer support has been incredibly helpful as well. I’ve had the pleasure of purchasing a woodland mill this summer, with a bit of time my 16 year old son and I were able to put it all together with ease, it was a bit challenging at first to keep the blades on the band wheel but quickly realized that I had put too much soap in the tank and had too much flow on to the blade. After correcting this I was able to mill enough wood to build a 20x 40 ft storage barn. The mill worked like a charm. The only thing I would suggest is getting a small jack to level the logs. Dave C

I purchased my HM126 in the summer of 2018 to begin milling wood for my barn, and eventually my retirement home in the foothills of Denver. I'm extremely satisfied with my HM126. It's not often that you buy something and have it completely meet and exceed your expectations. I added the rail extension kit onto my original purchase and was very glad I did, as I need all of it for most of my trees. I didn't however add the 10 pack of sawblades and wished I had, not realizing that one blade gets me about a full day of sawing on my Douglas Fir before it's just too dull to continue. I've learned by trial and error, and I'm sure this is true of all bandsaw mills, that the blades must be sharp to produce a nice even level cut. With a sharp blade the cuts are great. One of the welds broke on one of my log dogs, but not for any fault of Woodland Mills, rather it was my fault for dropping a log on it. A quick weld got it going again. I'm finding that the head moves smoothly and evenly down the track. It's plenty heavy to stay stable. Same with the rail system. It's heavy gauge and with the cross beams locking it togehter it forms a solid and rigid base that withstands a lot of punishment. My goal in the spring is to mill out some nice big timbers to put under the rails and bolt the levelers to them. Right now everything is sitting on cinder blocks which is ok, but I've had some wandering of the whole rail system due to bumps by the tractor and vibration, although, so far it doesn't seem to have affected the cuts. I love this saw! Not only does is it producing beautiful timbers and boards, it's saving me a ton of money!Bruce B

When I purchased the HM126 I had zero experience with a woodmill. I did a ton of research and it seemed that the Woodlands Mill was going to be user friendly. Ordering was super easy and the ladies asssited me in getting everything squared away. My mill arrived and I’m not gonna lie I was a little weary about all the pieces (I ordered the extra bed section). However everything went together pretty easily. I figured there was going to be a big learning curve to start milling. Everything seem to go pretty well and after a few logs I got it down and was moving through them quickly. I do wish I had an extra lock for the middle of my deck. Otherwise everything is pretty good. Actually I would update/upgrade the magnetic rulers. The magnets are good. The face rips easily. Probably my only compliant. Ron B

I love my new sawmill. Once we got thru that crazy winter and I got it all together and set up I've been cutting all kinds of logs. Cedar and maple and some pine although the pine sure is gooey. I've got cherry and persimmon and poplar on the way. I've gotten some really good dimensional lumber, as well as some live edge stuff. I give it a 5 star rating!! It's easy to get tracked, the instructions were simple enough even a dumb country boy could understand! It stays level and is easy maintenance. Patrick Ballard

New pics of our sawmill. He made some ramps to roll the log on. Works great. Also he built a little shed to keep sawmill protected from the weather and to keep tools, etc. Now that the weather is getting better he's finally getting to use it. It's so nice! He used the lumber he made to build the shed and now we are going to work on building a rv carport. Thanks so much for such a great sawmill!! Thomas Decker

I have enjoyed my Woodlands Mill. I have been impressed with the quality since the first day it arrived in the metal crate you shipped it in. I mounted the mill on a trailer to make it portable so I could move to job sites easily. The first weekend I used it my wife and I cut nearly 2000 board ft of 1"x16" Fir boards. It has been everything I hopes for. Dawayne Palmer

Here's a short review and some photos of my HM126. I shopped around for almost three years prior to purchasing the Woodland Mills HM126. What made the saleť for me was the value for an occasional user like me and Woodland's reputation for excellent customer service. I was very surprised by how quickly the saw arrived. It was delivered to my home within less than a week of placing the online order. There were no hidden charges as there are with some other sellers. Everything is up front and exactly as quoted by Woodland Mills. Right out of the box I was very impressed by the construction of the saw. The metal was much more heavy duty than I had expected. Assembly took the better part of a day but was not too difficult even as a one manť job. I would suggest reading completely through the assembly manual before starting. Assembling the saw on the rails made things much easier. The saw's performance has exceeded my expectations in every way. First I milled a large hickory for paneling and to make some furniture for the house. The blade that came with the saw didn't last long in the hickory. I suggest having some extra blades on hand especially if milling hardwoods. The saw had no problem handling the hickory. The few problems I had could all be linked to operator error and just generally not knowing what I was doing. There are a lot of video's on youtube that will help with the learning curve. Next I milled a large pine. The HM126 cut through the pine like a hot knife through butter. After a couple of Saturday mornings I now have enough lumber to construct a shed for the saw as well as repairs to some existing farm buildings that I'd been putting off due to high lumber costs. The HM126 is a perfect saw for a landowner who wants to mill their own trees into lumber for use around the farm. It is also a very handy addition for anyone who does woodworking, furniture building, etc. As mentioned before, I made some really nice, rustic hickory paneling for the house. The wife loves it! Making inside work my first priority was a good strategy. It convinced the wife that the saw wasn't a waste of money. Now she asks me all the time what I'm going to saw next. She already has several projects in mind for the lumber. The only problem I've had with the saw was a broken clamp. The folks at Woodland Mills replaced the clamp quickly with no problems. Their customer service really is as good as advertised. That's a big deal when investing in a mill. Thanks!Tommy Ford

Here is my HM126 and some black walnut I have been toting around for the last 4 years; finally got to see what was on the inside...still have a 1/4 cant to go. and here is some claro walnut from northern California - each cut is 2 1/4 thick and a hinge cut with a natural edge - should make some great "coffee tables". Have not had my HM126 very long but loving the way it performs. Have had great service and help from the tech department; thanks Derick ! Having been in the mechanical field for the past 55 years I would rate the design, performance AND price of my HMWL126 @ 5 STARS +Dennis Dodenhoff

I bought the mill to build a house. The outputs of the mill were mostly non-structural and included: fascia, soffits, siding, flooring, interior finishes, cabinets, counters, base boards, sliding barn doors, door and window trim, and ceilings. The picture of the bathroom is the downstairs bath built from local cedar. The siding is lapped pine and the vaulted ceiling is ship lapped pine. 8,000 meters of 3/4" pine was cut, varying widths. It was fastened when still green using galvanized serrated nails. The ceiling boards were screwed using coated trim screws. Tamarack was used for the soffits, fascia and future decks. It was selected for its rot resistance. When complete approximately 10 cords of tamarack will have been used. Ash was the hardwood of choice for the flooring, counters, cabinets, mouldings, etc. It was cut 1.5 years ago and was stickered to air dry. After air drying the floor slabs are straight edged in the shop and rough planed, then brought inside to the loft to further dry for 2 months before finish planing and T/G. 12 cords of ash were sawn into 1", 1.5", 2" and 3" boards. The sawmill has been magnificent and the blade sharpener a necessity. There's lots to learn, and I just keep learning All logs were cut by the sawmill into 1" 2" and 3" slats. In total about 40 cords of logs were milled which is about 500 logs. Basement of the house is now finished and there is Manitoba Cedar in the bathroom. Pine ceilings, ash staircase and walls. The exterior is 3/4" pine. It is live edge on one side and straight edge on the other, not tapered and of course lapped. It was a 3 year project. All done on my HM126 sawmill. Glen Harron

I have been looking at the HM126 for 4 years now and finally pulled the trigger. I single handedly assembled and set up the mill in a day (with tractor). The following day I did the tracking and an hour later I milled my first log. So far I have milled several spruce and cedar all 10' in length, but I can tell what type of saw I have purchased. This mill does an amazing job and Woodland Mills deserves a Nobel Prize for designing an affordable, RUGGED, easy-to-use, board slicing/beam making, saw dust throwing MACHINE! All siding and barn doors were sawn with my 126. Great mill!Brandon Vainio

I am a woodworker and i can now mill all of my hard and soft wood. this gives me the ability to complete the loop from the tree to the finished furniture right from my shop. I have four sons and we are enjoying the Woodland 126 Sawmill very much. First order of business when we got the mill operational was to saw lumber and put it in a makeshift kiln then build a shed over the mill. We did purchase a few treated post but for the most part the shed was built using lumber we sawed. The roof was from some metal scavenged from a re-roof of my sons house.A storm came thru and blew over an oak tree in my sons yard so naturally we put it on the mill. A co-worker was clearing some land for a pond and gave us the pine trees that were pushed down. With a little hard work transporting the trees we now have enough to saw for a while. I am very pleased with the Woodlands mill and have since purchased a track extension so that we can saw 16 feet lumber. Now that our sawmill shed is mostly complete, we are on a mission to saw a lot of lumber! The people at Woodlands were great to work with and they answered any questions and the product in my opinion is a great value. Thank each of you for your great product and service! Kenneth J. "What kind of house?" her Papa asked. "A log house," the granddaughter replied. So he spontaneously found a nice, flat spot in the woods. Then, using his tractor, he dragged a 9-foot cherrywood log with a 10-inch diameter, and plopped it onto the ground. Thus began the first stages of the construction of Sophia's cabin. Without any plans or blueprints or even preparation, Ronald Smock started building. He used trees that fell in the woods, stripped the bark from the logs by hand and created a little girl's dream play house. "I didn't know nothin'," Mr. Smock said. "I just kind of stumbled along. I'm planning as I go." After starting on a whim that Nov. 1, Mr. Smock kept going until the cabin in the woods is nearly done. With a solid roof and about 50 square feet of interior play space, the house needs a few final touches before the next time Sophia comes to visit. "She loves to live here and play in our yard," said Mr. Smock's wife, Pam, also known as Grandma. "She loves it here." Sophia, who had attended Summerfield Schools, moved to Sault Ste. Marie. She is expected to have a brief visit in March, then a long stay during the summer. The Smocks will be ready and Sophia's cabin will be waiting. A retired machine repairman at Ford, Mr. Smock, 75 in May, worked on the cabin using what he had. But then he decided he needed help to make the structure proper, so he invested in a saw mill and supplies. The $4,500 mill and extensions can handle logs up to 16 feet long and 26 inches in diameter. It was a huge help to cut boards for the roof and floor. The cabin, with 5-foot walls and an 8-foot center, will provide plenty of space for Sophia and her friends to play. Plus, it's sturdy. That was proven when Mr. Smock accidentally bumped the walls with his tractor and the cabin didn't budge. "I didn't want it flimsy," he said. With two windows near the roof peak to allow light, Mr. Smock will design a system where the door can't be locked either from the inside or outside for safety reasons. He still needs to install the maple flooring and plans to fill the gaps between logs with corn cobs and caulk. "I gotta keep the bees out," he said. "We have a lot of problems with bees." Soon it will be finished, including a brass-colored mailbox with Sophia's name on it, and this labor of love will be standing sturdy and ready for a lucky little girl whose Papa isn't a builder but willing to learn if it makes her happy.Ron Smock

I got the mill a couple of weeks ago. The delivery guy was awesome. I was at work and he placed it right where my wife asked him too. It took me a couple of days to get it set up but that was due it being my first Mill and I spent half of that time getting the track exactly right (plus the holidays). I was impressed with the solid materials and the fact that the blade that came with the Mill did not require any adjustment. At least not on my first log. The shipping crate it comes in is very sturdy, all parts were there, and nothing was damaged. I decided to go with the Woodland Mill after researching all brands for months. What swayed me was the effort that the Woodland Mill folks put into their instructional videos, the low-cost shipping, and the fact that they keep creating new products. And of course, the sales people are good to work and the price is very competitive. Thanks for a quality product. Making yellow lumber out of bois d'arc and a carbide tipped blade. I have been milling quite a bit of lumber and building 72'x54' monitor barn out of rough cut cedar. At times I wonder what in the world I was thinking starting a project like that, but it's slowly coming together. It would be nice to have a little Texas representation. As for the rating on the mill I would put mine at a 4 star rating. The only thing keeping it from being a 5 would be the design on the throttle, drip layout and push bar. It appears that those things have all been redesigned already. Over all I love it and wish I had more time to use it. Tony McMcollum

Did a pine tree job this week for a customer and brought home a load of pine and today I milled up the load. The 126 is an awesome machine. The mill has worked flawlessly, there has been a learning curve but there is lots of good support online even tips on sharpening the blades. I purchased my HM-126 mill and T-Rex trailer back in 2013 before Manitoba boosted the provincial sales tax. I have finally set it up and started sawing some logs. I have an 80-acre woodlot in the Agassiz Provincial Forest and 75% of the mature Tamarack there have been hit by the Eastern Larch beetle. I plan to turn the standing dead Tamarack into beams for timber frame construction and boards for board and batten siding. The mill works great and the T-Rex trailer is perfect for getting around in the forest doing selective harvesting. I take one tree at a time and turn it into timbers, chips and firewood. I have a 300cc Polaris Explorer which has no problem pulling the T-Rex with a 19"ť Tamarack log @ 17' on board and most importantly it leaves a small footprint in the forest. Steve BallSteve

I'm loving my mill. I got a nice stack milled the last few weekends. That was Southern Yellow Pine and Maple. Made some 2x6s and 1x10s. Here's a couple other pictures of the pine and some oak I sawed as well. Going to be my 30x30 Woodworking Shop. Almost all the wood sawn on my HM126. Love it!Clint Nelms

Restoring this woodshed. Slabwood from my mill, found a great use.. better than burning it. I have had such great experiences with these folks - from ordering, delivery, and running of the mill -I have to say, I was almost waiting for some major problem - but all have been excellent - I think with just halting my frequent trips to lumber yards for small projects - the mill has already paid for itself - and I have to confess. it is just damn fun turning logs into lumber - I am stockpiling 8"x8" beams to start my 32' X 12' mill building in the spring.. BUY ONE - you will love it! My 126 works like a dream - all the slab wood it churned out seemed like such a waste, so I cut 1/2" slabs (til I get to my desired size to cut lumber), and use it for siding on my 100 year old woodshed to give it a facelift - also, thanks to the 126 the old shed was raised onto 4"X8" hemlock sills, and braced up with 4" X 4" fir. Now the old shed has another 100 years in it.. Thanks Woodland Mills!!!Darryl Esau

I am finally getting around to sending some pictures. I have had the Woodland Mills HM126 for almost a year now and have really enjoyed it! I haven't had any major issues with the mill and it has sawed everything I have loaded on it. I milled the lumber to build a lean-to on my 70-year-old barn to put the mill in. Also, milled the 6x6s and 8x8's to build a base for the mill. Thanks for a great mill! The customer service is great!Phillip South

First project using the wood I cut the first day I used the mill. Aromatic cedar vanity top with live edge front and breadboard live edge side. I cut this tree down a few years ago at a friend's house and kept a 5 ft section. The vanity is going to a client for his master bathroom. Kelly Hanna Woodworks hannawoodworks.com facebook.com/hannawoodworks. The second cutting job I did on my new sawmill was for a friend. We took 24' cedars and cut two sides flat to use as beams for a peaked roof deck cover. The deck was built using reclaimed wood a few years ago. Today we set all four beams on top of our cedar tree 'posts' using a bobcat to lift them. Just finished this antique Singer sewing table frame with an Osage Orange (Bois D'Arc) top. Cut the limb off my tree and milled it on the 126. It has some bore damage, but I call it a wormwood live edge! I just cut three slices of Redwood from an old beam I had in the shop on the mill for a new vanity top for our new home. We are buying two acres with a house on it nearby and this will be in the master bathroom under the two sinks. The top is in the glue up stage in the pic. So my latest client's job entails using 4x10 beams, but no one stocks them in Dallas and his trees were not big enough to cut that big of a beam ...so I fired up the sawmill and cut 4x12s [four of them] at the same time!Kelly Hanna

Kind of a lot of pictures, but I wanted to share my mobile set up. I have the original track in my barn and I set up a 16' flatbed trailer with some low profile rails and cross members. When I'm milling at home I leave the mill in the barn. When I need to be mobile I move the saw to my trailer. I can take my tractor with me to help load logs when I'm traveling with the saw, or I can haul my saw and lumber/logs at the same time. I can even haul my tractor and wood at the same time. A flexible set up that lets me have a mobile saw and still use my trailer for hauling.Mike Allinger

First, I really like creating unique lumber and one of the pictures is of a 360 degree live edge board that I cut from a curved piece of Maple ... created a jig to hold it in place and took slices off of the top. Another is a picture of a bread board made from the same log with the live edge all round. I also included a picture of a live edge, 2 inch thick by 18" wide spalted maple desk and matching book shelf I made for my daughter's room. A couple of pictures of my mill including a winch I rigged up to roll the logs up ramps and onto the mill. And finally cutting live edge (flitches) from a 22 inch white pine. I am extremely happy with my HM 126, it has run flawlessly for the last year and a half, the engine has plenty of power and the quality of the mill is excellent! But, I also want to say that one of the things I am always telling people about Woodland Mills is the incredible level of service from everyone I have dealt with there ... courteous, helpful and always innovating!! Bought my 126 in Dec 2015, with intentions of building a cabin. Have cut 200 + spruce and pine logs. 864 sq. ft. floor is done. Built a pile of different things with basically the left-over pieces from building floor. LOVE my mill, only wish I got into sawing a long time ago. Can't say enough about the quality vs value of the saw. Also like the new head frame set up on the new 126's. Maybe an update for old 126's coming in the future? Keep up the great work! Latest project. 90 pine logs. 2900 lineal feet of 1.5x6.25 T&G flooring, milled on an HM126. Planed on a 6x12 Beaver. Have made over 30,000 feet of cuts with my 126 to date, no major issues at all. The biggest cedar to date, all the mill can do! 16' long 25" diameter! Here is a super centre piece of apple wood. Always a surprise what's inside the logs ! Had some fun making slabs and mantles and even a chunk for a guitar project for a friend. Dad and I decided after many years to clean out this old barn and put a wood-shop in. We have milled about 75% of the lumber, my dad has done almost all of the work at 72. I come for the heavy lifting and the air nailing. Here are a few pics of my setup. The little saw does a great job. I am very well pleased with the excellent Engineering that was applied to the construction of this product. I have salvaged several oak, cottonwood and hedge and other trees that would have rotted to nothing in my woods and timber. I built a sub frame out of 2" by 10" bridge channel iron and mounted the complete woodland mill on top of this frame. The sub frame is setting on top of telephone poles set 4 foot in the Clay ground. I set the logs on to the mill with my 1971 680C Case backhoe and I also turn the cants with my backhoe slip loop log chain. I am very pleased with this little saw. I have it mounted permanently but it is easily moved if need be. I expect to have this a long time so I am building a little house just for the saw to be in when I am not using it. I am 75 years old and this is a nice hobby for me and I own my timber. The little Queensland Blue Healer is my companion 24-7. I love it whether small or large it does a great job. But just a reminder to all, it can only perform as well as it is installed. KeithKeith Chapman

Hi Neil, I'm pleased that you think that my Woodland Mill's camo cover is worth sharing on your website! My sister made it for me. She is quite a seamstress and can make anything with material and thread. As I said in my post on the Forestry Forum, feel free to use any of the pictures in my photo gallery. I am really enjoying the mill. I've been wanting a mill for years and in September '13, I purchased this used Woodland Mill (60 hours on it) from agent in St. Stephen, NB. I have 40 acres of woods behind the house and lots of big pasture spruce/tamarack/pine/poplar. Some is so big they are dying. So I better start cutting them down and using them. There are several that are 30" plus so I'll have to do some creative carving with the chainsaw so I can get them on the mill! The Kohler 9.5hp engine has lots of power, easy to start but you have to apply the choke at each start even when the engine is warm (no big thingy!) The blades are easy to change and a sharp one cuts like a knife through butter. It's a light but very strong setup. Easy to add bed extensions if you so desire. Standard length is 10' bed and you can add extensions from there to infinity. The carriage push bar is adjustable and the throttle is easy to handle. And the folks at Woodland are quick on the draw in answering your emails and providing help if needed. You have to keep in mind what the other fellows here have said - it's not a high production mill, just a hobby mill. But if you aren't looking for 1500bf of lumber a day and have the time, then it's a good mill.Bill Soucoup

The Woodland Mills sawmill was easy to set up and a joy to use. I have made several small items from green lumber and have several hundred board feet drying inside one of my buildings. The small shed next to the mill was tossed together with incurred lumber. Everything milled to this date has come from ash trees destroyed by the emerald ash borer. My woods has hundreds of these dead and nearly dead trees 10 to 48 inches in diameter and 50-80 ft. high. The saw mill allows me to save as much of this oak-like lumber as possible.Bob Adams

I purchased on June 11th and received it on Whidbey Island, Washington State (clear across the country) on Friday June 19th. I think with proper maintenance, this mill will last forever. I have sawed 4 large logs and the blade is still sharp. Tom Rehberg

I had a little end of and red cedar log laying around that was too small to be anything but a post really so I decided to cut it into an octagonal post (the first of two) to use on a little hunting cabin Im getting ready to build. I made up some v-blocks to hold the cant and quite quickly had my octagon. I made the blocks on the bottom so that when turned upside down for the third and fourth cuts they would hold the cant at the correct height to match the first two cuts. That eliminated changing the blade height and made it easier to have 8 equal facets. It all worked just like it was supposed to and I ended up with a perfect octagonal post. While the thing was still on the mill, I made the cuts for the notches at the top with the mill and then finished the shoulder cuts with the cordless saw in the picture. One of the things I was impressed with when I got the mill was the fit and finish of the unit. I've assembled a lot of machinery and usually have to chase threads to remove paint or swarf, but all the threads were clear and ready to go. All the sharp edges were removed on milled parts and milling marks were minimal. It was noticeably better in these areas. I think the mill is a good value and it obviously comes from a company that pays attention to detail.Robert Tulloh

Have not got to use it as much as I would have liked so far but I did just mill out some old barn beams for a buddy/ friend that is rebuilding some windows for a customer of his & may have another mill job for me. I have milled out some deck boards for my own equip. & have some time coming up to do some milling for some other projects, one is finishing the basement/ man cave (will try to get some pictures of that project). When I have got to use the mill, I really enjoy using it & learning. I do think this is a good entry level unit. With being in the tree service I get to meet & talk to a lot of different people & of course with some of them the mill will come up antique furniture repair/maker, the president of the wood turner's club here in my area & of course my buddy that restores old homes just to name a few. I am cutting up a log pile on my property. I built the trailer myself. I combined parts I saw on other trailers. I've since added rollers with a one ton bottle jack. I made side loading ramps out of 3" angle iron. I use a battery powered electric winch to pull the logs up the ramp. I had a winch with a slip clutch in it so it wouldn`t lift more than it was rated for. Some idiot in an office came up with that for safety, Just the opposite. I threw it in the garbage. I had a 32" x 16` log on the ramp. When it got to the top, I guess it was more than it was rated for and down it came on the ramp. I was smart enough not to be near it. I am looking for a good winch now. Until then I use my 4wheeler one. I had to cut down 30 trees to make room on my property to make a shed for the mill. I will be able to work in the winter. I welded 8 top crank, 2500 Ibs, jacks for fast mill leveling. I wielded the mill levelers to the trailer frame, for truing the mill bed. I also have a interchangeable trailer tongue, out o 3" square tubing. I will be adding fenders and signal lights for highway travel. I have cut 2x6's and 2x4`s for roof trusses for my new mill shed. I love the mill and it is one of the best purchases I have made in many years. I have had many fellow sawyers check my mill out. They come from Iron Bridge to the Soo. JackJack Burley

Hey Lori, This is Steve from the Acorn to Arabella project. We are indeed building a sailboat with one of your mills. The mill belongs to Nathan who mentioned our project to you. This is the second time I have borrowed his mill, a few years ago I milled enough pine lumber for a 12'x38' woodshed along with butternut and sugar maple for the boat and some red oak for the frame of the boat house. The woodshed was built last fall and is being used to store and dry the lumber we are milling for Arabella. The boat shed will be constructed in the coming months while the wood for Arabella has a chance to season a bit. Without the mill none of this would have been possible. We would never have been able to afford the lumber and being able to mill whatever specific beams we need for the boat is priceless. Currently we have a short, rough clip of the mill in action on the FB page. We milled all last week and this past weekend and have a few hours of footage we need to look through and edit. We will be posting a video of the milling by the middle of May, but we can certainly post a bunch of still shots of the mill in action in the very near future. We have been milling white pine, white oak, red oak and sugar maple. We would be ecstatic for Woodland Mills to share our project and would be very happy to help Woodland Mills in any way we can. I have been very impressed with that little mill and would recommend it whole heartily. If there is anything we can do or anything you would specifically like to see (we still have a bunch of logs to mill) we are happy to oblige. Thanks for your interest in our crazy project! Here is a picture of my brother putting the final board up on the cabin. The entire thing is sided with white pine sawed on the mill. Worked great. We sawed some beautiful white pine and built these live edge red oak stairs from lumber sawed on the hm 126 two years ago. Great day. The outhouse at the cabin is made entirely from home sawn wood (besides the pressure treated frame). Thanks for making such a great machine! I don't know what I would do without it. Buying lumber at home depot just seems so boring and expensive these days. And here's the dog helping me saw up some maple for the 320 square foot chicken coop addition I am putting onto the barn. That wood is almost too beautiful to waste on rafters but they will look nice holding up the roof. Chad Chad Araneo

I bought the HM126 in May 2015. Since then, I have been milling continuously. Assembling the mill was not easy (you really need 2 persons); however, I was glad to have the adjustable feet. I strongly recommend buying an extra log clamp. It really helps maintain smaller logs in place. Purchase a blades sharpener if you can; it will save a lot of time and money overtime. The more I use my mill, the better I feel cutting with it. The mill makes beautiful and straight boards and beams. For the price it is great value. I could also add that I always had a very good service at Woodland Mills.Philippe Lagarde

This is a large white ash and what you see here is us taking a six inch by twenty inch slab. We wanted several six inch wide boards so we cut the slab then stood it up on its end and cut eighteen boards. So far I have only had two large diameter logs that really challenged the saw and when that happens you have to get out the chainsaw and take a few cuts to reduce the size. I have not been disappointed with the diameter restriction! Any log bigger than the twenty eight inch maximum are very heavy and dangerous to maneuver. Bruce Markell

This 3-season porch was my second project with my woodland mills saw. It's been 18 months from concept to it's present state. I'm currently working on trimming the interior to match the exterior. The mill also made most of the deck, the handrail and the siding on the house. My advice for a new mill owner, especially a first timer like me, is to put a lot more effort than I did, into a good set up of the mill the first time. I've found that a good leaf blower works perfectly to clean up after each day. Also, the Princess Auto wagon frame that I made into a portable sawhorse for the slab wood makes clean up much easier.Paul Fralick

I settled on the Woodland. We had the addition cut out in about 4 days. Since that we have been contacted to cut many other custom orders. On a good day we are able to cut around 1,000 board feet. We have cut about 10,000 board feet of cedar timber for a timber frame. Also a 26" 24' red oak that weighed around 5000 lbs. I am a 62 year old semi-retired college Professor. I received the Woodlands sawmill as a retirement gift back in April of this year. The intention was to take it to our cottage near Temagami, Ontario where Mother Nature often supplies us with an assortment of saw logs. There I would use it as a hobby as I ride off into full retirement mode very soon. Before shipping it to Temagami, I took the packaged unit to a friend's farm near London, Ontario. We started assembling the unit on a Friday afternoon and we were ready to start sawing by dinner time. We found the instructions easy to follow. With a bit of mechanical ability and a couple of extra hands the assembly was straightforward. Sawing our first log was exciting and effortless. And extremely accurate! I'm really impressed with the job this sawmill can do, and I'm really looking forward to learning more about how to saw logs and the various "advanced techniques" that I can employ with the unit. The pictures attached show the unit at our cottage by the lakeshore. I laid out some concrete filled sonotubes, cast some galvanized metal saddles in the concrete, then laid out a 4"x6" wooden tie and foundation arrangement to support the metal track system. My hope is to put the unit on a roadworthy trailer system in the near future. I really want to have the mill as a portable unit. I have lots of friends who are really impressed with what they have seen so far, and they are tempting me with offers of saw logs all over Ontario. Thanks to all the friendly people at Woodland Mills who have provided encouragement and technical help thus far, and for your wonderful website. You're doing a great job. Please keep it up. Then started on the 8x8x16 red oak posts and beams for our new office, butcher shop, canning kitchen, BBQ shack, trophy room- all under one roof. I plan to cut every single board and they will all be oak, hickory, walnut, pecan, and black cherry with tulip poplar rafters and ceiling. Framing will be yellow pine. The challenge of getting a 126 to a private island on the West Coast..last summer I purchased your 126 for use on a small Gulf Island (BC) property we have. Our island has a number of blow downs each year and being on the ocean in BC we get a few logs on our beach that break away from log booms, although there are far fewer logs than in years past given how logs are now transported. There are a variety of species including; D Fir, Pacific Silver Fir, Red Cedar, Arbutus, Hemlock, Maple, Yew and Alder, which periodically roll up on our beach or blow over in a strong SE storm somewhere on our 150 acres. Being a DIY kind a person I wanted to be make use of them and what better way than a small band saw I thought. The 1st challenge was how to get the Mill to our Island? I thought I would send along a few pictures (attached) to show how it was done. 1. From your factory the Mill was delivered to Maple Bay on Vancouver Island and placed a friend's pick up. 2. The pickup went the public dock at Crofton BC where it was loaded by "davit" onto another pal's boat. 3. The Mill then crossed the 6 miles of water across the top end of Saltspring Island to our little Island, North Secretary (NSI). 4. We timed the crossing to get maximum tide to accommodate the lifting of the Mill out of the boat using our JD 150D 5. The JD excavator walked the Mill up the shore incline a carefully placing it a trailer that was pulled by a refurbished 1948 Massey Ferguson tractor hauled to our cottage. 6. The Mill is a heavy beast so I used the JD excavator to lift the Mill out of the trailer and began assembling... It was an interesting day for me and two close friends who made this exercise a great day adventure. The Mill has performed very well. It's already been used to mill wood for several projects. The next project is to build a home for the Mill to keep it better protected from the weather. You have a great product with this Mill.. I expect many years of service from it.. Steve Dadson

I have had my mill for almost two years. I work in the woods so it fits in good. Days I can't cut I can saw. Helps to keep the wood yards cleaned up. I have done different projects for family , friends and land owners . This is my house I was finally able to build by having the mill and time during mud season.Eric DeWitt

I was pleasantly surprised how heavy duty the entire mill is and how solid, accurate and easy to operate. I took my time putting system together and mounted the track on the flatbed trailer frame to be mobile . Pretty cool making my own lumber and I am cutting white fur to build 8x10 cabin for grandkids.Leroy Howery

"I have been very pleased with my HM126 Sawmill. It is accurate and powerful enough to cut through some pretty large frozen Manitoba Ash and Tamarack. The Kohler engine starts and runs well in even minus 30 C weather. The mill too operates well in these cold temperatures. It is important at blade change to completely clear the discharge chute and sawblade pulley wheels of the lube antifreeze ice/sawdust buildup. This is completely understandable and is only a 10 minute job. A great investment that has put the creativity back into my life. "Thanks Woodland Mills"Glen Harron

Just some quick pictures to show you my mill is working fine. I've cut some spruce and fir logs to build a boat house and some birch to use as blocks in my commercial garage. My little girl Brianna loves it and takes part in all I do with it. I decided to build a trailer like the one in your plans, it works great. I think the mill is a wonderful tool for anyone who likes to work with wood and so does all my friends. Even though I had doubts about something new, I can't believe I haven't purchased one before. Thanks again!!Willie Penney

Hello to the staff of Woodland Mills and Happy Holidays. I have owned the HM126 for a year and I wanted to provide some feedback and pictures. The mill was delivered in less than a week and went together without any problems. I have been impressed with the quality and performance. Like a lot of comments I have read, the engine performs flawlessly and starts immediately. My last tank of gas lasted so long I was wondering if I would every have to add gas. I live in Northeast Connecticut which is called the Last Green Valley between Maine and Washington D.C. One of the reasons I purchased the mill is the seemingly endless supply of free logs that are available in my area. I have milled red/white oak, white pine, cherry, spruce, tamarack, ash, hickory, hemlock, cedar and black walnut. I have milled cherry, cut a mile from my house for a friend, and we are now both making dining room tables from the beautiful lumber. I have bartered wide white pine boards for brand new Anderson windows worth about $2000. I have sold bar tops and had two gentleman buy my black walnut slabs just yesterday. The mill has paid for itself in one year of part time use. I have a stack beams of 12x12, 10x10, 8x8 and 4x8s in anticipation of building a post and beam garage on my property. Everything I do from here on out is gravy. Thanks for providing a quality mill, with great features, at an affordable price!Dale Lagace
